Helped by a half-century by Jordan Cox and a fine bowling spell by Jamie Overton, England won the third and final men's T20 international in Malahide by six wickets to claim the series 2-0, with last Friday's game abandoned because of rain.

Earlier in the day England won the toss and put Ireland, who gave a debut to all-rounder Ben Caltiz, into bat and the home side reached 154 for 8 in the 20 overs with Gareth Delaney top scoring with 48 not out.

In reply, the visitors reached 155 for 4 off with 2.5 overs to spare, a well-merited win against an injury-hit Irish side missing front line bowlers Josh Little and Mark Adair.

Having been sent in, Ireland made a brisk start and by the start of the 4th over were 30 for 0 before Paul Stirling (7) feathered a Liam Dawson delivery to wicketkeeper Josh Buttler.

Ross Adair was joined in the middle by the inform Harry Tector after Stirling's dismissal but having scored 33 off 23 balls faces, he was caught at long on with the score on 52/2 in the seventh over, a wicket for spinner Rehan Ahmed.

The ninth over was a bad one for the hosts as Lorcan Tucker, who scored a half century in the opening game last Wednesday, was caught at midwicket by Chris Wood off the bowling of Jamie Overton with the score on 56 for 3.

Overton disposed of Curtis Campher in the same over, caught at long on by Tom Banton with Ireland falling 58 for 4, which brought Calitz to the crease to join Tector in the middle for the first time in a green shirt.

The pair took the score to 90 by the 14th over, before Tector (28) tried a reverse sweep off the bowling of Liam Dawson, but he failed to make the required contact and looped an easy catch to Adil Rashid at short third.

Calitz boomed a big six of Rashid in the 15th over, but the bowler had his revenge when Calitz was dismissed in the same over for 22 and Barry McCarthy followed out for a first ball duck, lbw to the canny Rashid.

A seventh wicket stand of 39 between Gareth Delaney and Matt Humphires (7) took Ireland to 141 in the 18th over before Rasid took his third wicket with Humphries well caught by Jordan Cox, diving forward at fine leg

Delaney made a 48 run cameo off 29 deliveries to help Ireland past the 150 mark, which included three sixes and four fours.

Two bursts of rain delayed the England reply and Ireland had an early success when opener Jos Buttler was out for naught, caught by a blinding one-handed diving catch by Camper at short cover off McCarthy's first over with England 10 for one.

English captain Jacob Bethell lasted 10 deliveries before a running diving catch by Gareth Delaney off the bowling of Craig Young had the visitors on 33 for 2 in the fifrth over.

Phil Salt and Jordan Cox took their side to 90 in the 10th over before Campher had Salt caught behind for 29.

Cox though showed scant regard for the Irish attack as he and Tom Banton took England to within sight victory with a partnership of 49 runs as Cox reached his half century off just 31 deliveries, finally departing for 55, bowled by Ben White in the 16th over.

But Banton (37 not out) and Rehan Ahmed (nine not out) took England over the line with just under three overs to spare.

Ireland's next series will be in Bangladesh in November.
