Kathryn Bryce's half-century led Scotland to a 40-run victory over Ireland in the first one-day international in Spain.

Skipper Bryce hit five fours in her 103-ball 78 which helped Scotland to 211 all out in 47.2 overs.

Ireland were well placed to chase down the runs in Almeria as opener Leah Paul’s 43 moved them to 109 for two.

But when she was out, the rest followed quickly as Hannah Rainey’s three wickets saw Ireland bowled out for 171.

The sides will meeting in the second ODI of the series on Thursday.
