Ireland will host India in a three-match T20I series in Malahide this August.

It marks the second year in a row that the number one ranked side in the limited overs game will play on Irish soil.

The matches will take place between 18-23 August with fixture dates to be confirmed.

Last year, Ireland lost 2-0 to India in a two-match series in Malahide.

It's adds to a busy schedule of Test and T20I matches for Ireland over the coming months.

They are about to start a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh which will be followed by three T20 outings against the same opponents before a Test on 4-8 April in the capital Dhaka.

They will also take on Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series later that month, while there will be a Test match at Lords against England on 1-4 June.

In between those assignments, three ODIs against Bangladesh in Chelmsford, England are slated for May in the World Cup Super League series as the Irish side look to claim automatic qualification for the 50-overs tournament and avoid a qualifier in Zimbabwe in June or July.

"Summer 2023 will be a feast of men's cricket but will look very different to normal for fans. We can today confirm India visiting Ireland for a second consecutive year and confirm the World Cup Super League series against Bangladesh will proceed in early May. This is on top of the already announced Test match at Lord’s in June and the three-match ODI series in September against England," said Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom.

"Making our summer slightly unusual is that we have not been able to look at organising any bilateral cricket between mid-June and mid-July given the potential of our participation in the 50-over Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier. It won’t be until after the Bangladesh series that we will learn whether we are heading to the qualifier in Zimbabwe."

On the decision to face Bangladesh in Chelmsford rather than on Irish soil this May, Deutrom added that it was weather-related in order to give Ireland "the best chance of securing automatic qualification".

"We need a venue where the weather patterns and playing facilities give us the best chance of mitigating any rain impacts," he said.

"Unfortunately, it is likely too early in the Irish season to prepare pitches to ODI standard unless we have a remarkably dry April. This only underscores our determination to accelerate the development of our permanent venue infrastructure, an objective which remains among my most pressing."
