The four core squads for the upcoming Inter-Provincial series have been announced.
Earlier this month, Cricket Ireland had confirmed that Munster Reds would be added to the domestic 50-Over Cup format as a fourth team alongside North West Warriors, Northern Knights and Leinster Lightning in a league comprising a two round-robin series.
Selection of the core squads for each team was to be made in collaboration between the Chair of National Men's Selectors and National Head Coach along with the respective provincial head coaches. A new player loan system was also introduced to cover injuries and exceptional circumstances.
Current Ireland cricket captain Andrew Balbirnie will be part of the Leinster Lightning squad alongside George Dockrell, who will skipper the side, and Kevin O'Brien.
Andy McBrine will captain North West Warriors, with William Porterfield and Boyd Rankin also part of their squad, while Curtis Campher and Gareth Delaney among those in the Munster Reds core selection, with a captain yet to be confirmed.
Gary Wilson will captain Northern Knights, who also have Paul Stirling in their ranks, in the series which is projected to run from May to September, with training to begin in March, subject to Covid-19 restrictions.
