Ireland's encounter against the UAE, scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 situation in Abu Dhabi.

While no new cases have been reported, the suspension of the one day international (ODI) is in line with UAE Department of Health directives.

It is the third time that an ODI between the sides has been postponed, however, there is still one match left in the series, which is due to be played on Saturday; discussions are ongoing about rescheduling of the remaining postponed matches.

There could feasibly be two more games - on Saturday and Monday - before the three World Cup qualifiers against Afghanistan, which are also due to take place in Abu Dhabi, starting on 21 January.

Ireland and Afghanistan are also in discussions about the possibility of playing a warm-up ODI this weekend should the series against the UAE be cancelled.
