Ireland slipped to a two-run defeat against Thailand in their final group match at the T20 Women's World Cup qualifiers in Dundee.

Both countries were already assured of a place in the semi-finals after winning their first two matches in Group B.

In a game reduced to 17 overs per side due to rain at Forfarshire Cricket Club, Ireland won the toss and restricted Thailand to 92 for seven, only to fall short on the duckworth-lewis method by making 90 for nine at the end of their run chase.

Naruemol Chaiwai top-scored for Thailand, making 24 off 33 deliveries, while Ireland's Leah Paul finished with three for 10.

Ireland were never comfortable chasing a modest target, losing wickets at regular intervals, until they needed 15 from the last 18 balls and then eight off the last over.

With Ireland on 82 for six at the end of the 14th over, Shauna Kavanagh and Paul were dismissed in successive deliveries before number 10 Lara Maritz was stumped off Onnicha Kamchomphu's final ball of the match.
