Ireland may play a summer Test match against England next year, according to reports in two English newspapers.
Last month Ireland played their inaugural Test match against Pakistan in Dublin and suffered a five-wicket defeat.
Reports in today's Guardian and Telegraph claim that a four-day game, which would have full Test status, is pencilled in for next July in Lord's, with talks at an advanced stage.
Cricket Ireland is hopeful that a game against England will take place at some stage but could not confirm the reports.
"We are in discussions with a whole range of countries," the governing body told RTÉ Sport.
"It's part of the Future Tours programme, an initiative that deals with the next four-year programme for Tests and One Day [games].
"That [schedule] will be announced in the next two weeks by the International Cricket Council. We are hoping we can play [the 11 full] members over the four-year period."
