Teenager duo Josh Little and Lorcan Tucker have been called into the Ireland squad for the first time ahead of the upcoming T20 internationals against Hong Kong in Bready next month.
The Pembroke pair, part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Cricket Ireland Academy, impressed at the ICC Under 19 World Cup in Bangladesh earlier this year, and get their opportunity to make an impact at senior international level.
Little is a left-arm opening quick bowler - who despite being only 16 years-old - bowled at 85 mph during the tournament. 19 year-old Tucker is a wicket-keeper batsman who was the stand-out performer for the Irish in Bangladesh.
"We wanted to bring some freshness to the squad," said selectors Alan Lewis. "In particular we are delighted to see the youth of Josh Little and Lorcan Tucker added to the squad.
"Left-arm quicks have been hugely successful in T20 and Josh's introduction will drive his career forward we hope.
"He bowls with pace and is an excellent athlete.
"Lorcan's ability to score all around the ground with his 360 degree game - as witnessed at the Under-19 World Cup - coupled with his wicket keeping gives us excellent balance."
There are recalls for Greg Thompson, James Shannon, Sean Terry and David Rankin. Thompson - Ireland's youngest international at 16 back in 2004 - made his last appearance in 2008.
However, he has been in exceptional form this season, scoring over 1000 runs in all competitions, including a match-winning hundred in the Northern Cricket Union T20 final earlier this month.
"Clearing the ropes and strike rates which are vital in this format have proved difficult for us recently but we hope with the re-introduction of the quartet, added to our experience that we can build a new identity to the way we play," added Lewis.
"All four are excellent fielders in their own right, which is such an important dimension in this format too.
"Hong Kong have proved extremely useful and are committed to this format so it will be a good challenge. We really hope the players involved will use the opportunity to stick their hands up for what lies ahead."
The games take place at Bready on 5-6 September, starting at 3.30pm.
Both matches will be double-headers with Ireland Women facing Bangladesh in morning matches (10:30am).
And the Ireland Women squad has been named for that forthcoming series against Bangladesh.
Top-order players Meg Kendal and Shauna Kavanagh replace Cath Dalton and Una Raymond-Hoey in the ODI squad, with the selectors taking the opportunity to examine their options ahead of the World Cup qualifiers next year.
All-rounder Robyn Lewis returns to the squad after injury - she replaces opening bowler Louise McCarthy who is unavailable due to college commitments.
Ireland play Bangladesh in the T20 format on 5-6 September, before switching to ODI mode for matches on Thursday, 8 September 8 and Saturday, 10 September (10:30am).
