Pakistan will take part in the ICC World Twenty20 in India, after receiving clearance to do so from their own Government.
The Pakistan Cricket Board's executive committee chairman Najam Sethi confirmed todayy that his country's Interior Ministry has decided both men's and women's teams should travel, after appropriate reassurances of team safety from the Indian authorities.
Two days ago, the International Cricket Council agreed to move Pakistan's Group 2 fixture against India from Dharamsala to Kolkata.
The PCB, however, deferred departure and called for further guarantees of security from the hosts of the global tournament following "specific threats to the team from various political parties and groups during the tour".
It was only on Friday, 48 hours after Pakistan were initially due to arrive in India for the tournament which began this week, that Sethi was able to announce the players will be travelling this weekend following a decision on the matter from Interior Minister Chaudry Nisar.
Sethi tweeted: "On the basis of pukka assurances from the Home Ministry of India & CM Bengal, Ch Nisar has granted permission to PCB to send Team to India."
He also told Cricinfo: "We have got the assurances we had wanted from India about the security around the Pakistan teams, and the good news for the fans is that Chaudhry Nisar has said the teams can travel to India.
"Chaudhry Nisar said that the Government has received solid assurances from the Indian home ministry so we can send our teams to India. The team will be leaving for Dubai either tonight or tomorrow morning."
Pakistan have already had to forgo Saturday's scheduled warm-up match against Bengal in Kolkata, but will be able to fulfil their first group fixture at Eden Gardens on Wednesday March 16.
