Ireland’s Under-19s put on an impressive performance against India in the ICC U19 World Cup match in Bangladesh today, but ultimately fell 79 runs short.

Chasing 269 to win, an unsteady start with the bat saw two run-outs early on which put pressure on the Ireland middle order.

But Adam Dennison (20), and two impressive half centuries from Lorcan Tucker (57) and William McClintock (58) rescued the Ireland cause after India’s pace bowlers were very impressive up top.

Tucker and McClintock went on to post a partnership of 113.

Earlier, Josh Little (3-52) and Rory Anders (3-37) impressed with the ball for Ireland, and the Irish had the favourites in trouble at 55-4 after 17 overs, but a good knock of 74 from Safaraz and 62 from Washington Sundar put India in a strong position and they dismissed the lower order with ease.
