Boyd Rankin will return to the Ireland cricket team in time for the Twenty20 World Cup in March, according to reports in several English media outlets.
The Bready fast-bowler played his last game for Ireland in 2012, before switching allegiance to represent England, which led to his selection for the Ashes series in Australia, where he made his test debut at the Sydney Cricket Ground in January 2014.
Rankin, however, failed to cement his place in the longer form of the game with the England test team and now looks set to return to the Ireland set-up.
The Warwickshire seamer has reportedly held talks with Cricket Ireland about a return and is set to confirm the switch over the next few weeks.
Rankin cannot return to the Ireland squad until he has served a two-year re-qualification period, which will be completed in January 2016.
The 31-year-old represented Ireland at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups and could possibly play his first game back in the green in the ICC Intercontinental Cup game against Papua New Guinea in January.
