South Africa completed a 2-0 Twenty20 series win over the West Indies after holding their nerve with a one-run victory in Antigua.
Graeme Smith's side edged a low-scoring contest after defending their first-innings 120 for seven, despite a final over assault from Darren Sammy, whose 12 not out from six deliveries brought the hosts within one hit of victory on the final delivery.
Jerome Taylor starred with the ball in the first knock, taking three wickets and yielding just 14 runs from his four-over spell, but could not get the three needed with the bat off the final ball.
Taylor accounted for Smith (15) and opening partner Loots Bosman (nought) before returning to add the scalp of Johan Botha, who made 23 off 22 balls to boost the Proteas' final total.
Debutant David Miller's 33, containing two of his team's five sixes, was the top score in a disappointing innings for the touring batsmen, who were also tied down by Sammy's return of two for 16.
Dale Steyn got the second innings off to the perfect start for South Africa, trapping the virtuoso Chris Gayle lbw for a second ball duck.
Andre Fletcher fell to Morne Morkel for four soon afterwards before Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Dwayne Bravo put on a resolute, but perhaps overly leisurely, 68.
Bravo's knock of 40 lasted 42 balls, including two sixes and a four, but Chanderpaul's 29 took 37 balls as the pair defended too many dot balls.
By the time both men were gone the score was 87 for four with 3.5 overs left, but Kieron Pollard (12 from 13) and Sammy (12no from six) brought them close.
Narsingh Deonarine was run out as Sammy attempted to get his side over the line with some hard running, leaving tailender Taylor requiring three to win off the final ball of the game, delivered by Ryan McLaren.
He made contact but dabbed the ball into the offside and was only able to scramble a single.
Morkel's spell of four overs for 15, including two wickets, made him the cheapest bowler, while Botha weighed in with three wickets to keep the hosts under pressure.
