A superb bowling performance saw Ireland record a comprehensive 96-run victory over Scotland in the One Day International Series in Aberdeen on Saturday.

Regan West took four wickets, while the Irish fielders took three run outs as Scotland struggled to get anywhere near Ireland's total of 205-9.

Scotland were 57-3 at the half-way point of their innings as Ireland restricted them brilliantly, ultimately leading to them being bowled out for 109.

William Porterfield was Ireland's star with the bat, hitting 53, while Andre Botha (33) and Andrew White (32) also hit decent scores.

The teams meet again tomorrow as Ireland prepare for the huge clash with England in Stormont next Thursday.

Meanwhile Ireland are facing up to the probability of being without Boyd Rankin for that match.

The big Warwickshire paceman picked up a groin strain in this week's championship game against Durham which, his county say will rule him out for up to two weeks.
