New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram will not require major surgery on the injury to his left ring finger.
Oram got hurt during the first Chappell-Hadlee ODI against Australia in Wellington last month and reports had stated he would need serious treatment.
However, a statement on the official team website has confirmed only a minor operation will be required after the World Cup.
The Blackcaps arrived in Barbados late on Thursday, with their opening game against England in St Lucia next week.
