Irishman Ed Joyce has been included in England's 30-man provisional squad for this year's World Cup in the West Indies.
Joyce played a huge part to help Ireland qualify but is now likely to represent England at the tournament after declaring for his adopted country last year.
Joyce will come up against Ireland should both sides qualify for the second phase of the competition.
All of the players currently on tour in Australia were picked, including injured batsman Kevin Pietersen, who is being sent home after fracturing a rib.
Four uncapped players were added to the squad as well as seven players that did not feature in England's ICC Champions Trophy squad, including captain Michael Vaughan and spinner Monty Panesar.
Darren Gough, Ian Blackwell and Tim Bresnan were not considered after failing fitness tests.
'We are eager to ensure everyone is given every chance to prove their fitness but we are not prepared to select players for this upcoming World Cup that we anticipate will not reach a satisfactory level of fitness for what will be a gruelling tournament,' England's chairman of selectors, David Graveney said in a statement.
Ashley Giles was included after declaring himself available following his sudden departure from the Ashes tour to care for his ill wife.
'He's now getting back into training, which is great news for Ashley and the England cricket team,' Graveney said.
