Ireland's Ed Joyce has been named in England's provisional squad for the ICC Champions Trophy which takes place in India this October.
Bray native Joyce, who plays for county side Middlesex, became eligible to play for England last summer through a residency rule. His one-day debut for England came in June against Ireland at Stormont.
Joyce has been joined in the provisional squad by veteran fast bowler Darren Gough. Gough, who turns 36 next month, has been rewarded for some excellent performances this summer. Yorkshire-born Gough made his one-day debut back in 1994 against New Zealand.
Gough's inclusion comes as a shock considering the omission of Monty Panesar. Left-arm spinner Panesar has been a star performer for the Test side in the recent series against Pakistan, claiming 16 wickets in all and three for 39 in the second innings at Headingley as England won the series with a match to spare.
