England captain Michael Vaughan went to hospital for a scan on his twisted knee after having to retire hurt as his team's tricky start to their tour of Pakistan continued on day two at the Bagh-e-Jinnah.
Vaughan came in at number three after the loss of opener Marcus Trescothick against Pakistan A in England's second tour match and final fixture before the first Test, set to begin in Multan on Saturday.
He faced just one ball before he sunk to the ground in pain making his ground at the non-striker's end and after several minutes' treatment on the pitch he limped off to be replaced by Kevin Pietersen.
The suggestion from the England camp was that the injury may be a recurrence of the problem which struck Vaughan down in the Lord's nets last year and ruled him out of the first Test against New Zealand when Trescothick took over as captain.
