Key batsman Damien Martyn has been ruled out of Australia's line-up for tomorrow's World Cup semi-final against Sri Lanka at St George's Park. Martyn fractured his right index finger during training yesterday and x-rays confirmed the extent of the damage this morning, forcing him out of tomorrow's crunch match.
His place is most likely to be given to Queensland all-rounder Jimmy Maher while Michael Bevan has recovered from the sore lower back which sidelined him for the victory over Kenya earlier this week.
Coach John Buchanan said: "Damien is a key member of our top order but hopefully another player can come in to the side and replace him adequately. He's still in a lot of pain at this stage and we will review it over the next couple of days. He's very disappointed about this because he's been an integral part of our World Cup campaign."
