Shaun Pollock has been axed as South Africa captain following the team`s failure to reach the Super Six stage at the World Cup. National selectors recommended the move to the United Cricket Board of South Africa, who ended speculation over Pollock`s future today.
UCB chief executive officer Gerald Majola paid his own tribute to Pollock, stating: "Shaun is a very valuable member of the national squad and is one of the world's best all-rounders. He will continue to play a vital role in the team."
A replacement will be named tomorrow.
