Warne to face ACB hearing

Shane Warne is set to face an Australian Cricket Board drugs hearing before the end of the week after the leg-spinner waived his right to appeal the testing process. The ACB confirmed they had been advised of the 33-year-old's 'B' test result by both the Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA) and Warne's legal team, and that steps were being taken to set up the tribunal.

The hearing will determine whether Warne was in breach of the ACB's anti-doping policy and any subsequent punishment, which could mean a two-year ban and ultimately end his career.

ACB public affairs general manager Peter Young confirmed: "ASDA has advised us the testing process has now been finalised. Separately, Shane Warne's legal representatives have given us the same advice. We are now moving to set up a hearing as soon as is practically possible. We are hoping that could be as early as the end of this week. The issue is due process. We need to ensure everyone involved is properly prepared."

Warne admitted taking one diuretic tablet, provided by his mother, shortly before making his international comeback from a dislocated shoulder.
