India take 3-1 series lead against England

Sachin Tendulkar became the first man to score 11,000 one-day runs as he led India to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over England today. Tendulkar struck 87 in 67 balls, but it was man of the match Virender Sehwag who did the initial damage with a 62-ball 82 as India overhauled England's 218 for seven with 62 balls to spare in the rain-shortened 39-over encounter.

Tendulkar, 28, reached the milestone in his 284th match when drove off-spinner Jeremy Snape to long-on for a single to move to 48. India now have a 3-1 lead in the six-match series and the next match will be played in New Delhi on Thursday.
