Cricket: Lara fit for Aussie test

West Indies' Brian Lara will be fit to face Australia in the St Stephen's Day Test in Melbourne. Lara was hit on the head during net practice yesterday when a delivery came off his bat and struck him just above the eye. However, he only suffered some slight bruising and his vision was not affected by the injury.

Meanwhile, Australia's fast bowler Brett Lee will play no further part in the Test series against West Indies due to a back injury. Lee missed the Third Test in Adelaide last week and has now been dropped from the squad after medical experts warned he could suffer from stress fractures if the injury was not treated. But there was some good news for the Aussies, as their captain Steve Waugh has been declared fit to play in the Fourth Test after recovering from a muscle strain which ruled him out of last week's encounter.

Australia currently lead in the five-match series 3-0 and are hoping to extend their world record of 13 consecutive Test victories.
