The McGrath sisters, Siobhán and Niamh, from the Sarsfields club in Galway, have made history by claiming the respective AIB Club Player of the Year awards for 2021 and 2022.
Siobhan McGrath (22) took the 2021/2022 award to add to the recognition she first won as a teenager in 2019. Eldest sister Niamh (30) made it a fantastic family double by being honoured a year later after captaining Sarsfields to their second All-Ireland club title in nine months last December.
Siobhan was the top scorer in the 2021 final, bagging 1-07 against Oulart The Ballagh and scored a vital goal within 55 seconds of their hard-fought 2022 decider against Loughgiel.
Midfielder Niamh was player of the match in the 2022 decider when the Galway club contested their sixth final in seven years and won their third title.
They were without Orlaith (injured) for last December's decider but Clodagh and Ciara meant that Sarsfield's latest All-Ireland win featured four McGrath sisters and their father Michael 'Hopper’ McGrath, who manages them.
Ciara is only 17 but came off the bench in last year’s final and the youngest of these siblings – Laoise - is about to turn 16 which will make her eligible to play for their seniors this summer.
Six Sars’ players, including Orlaith McGrath, were selected on the 2021 te team of the year and seven made the 2022 selection.
Niamh McGrath have been named @OfficialCamogie Club Player of the Year for 2021/22 and 2022/23 respectively - but there was disappointment that the All-Star trip to Canada was cancelled @GalwayCamogie96 @SarsfieldsCC #rtesport pic.twitter.com/A1lVoUR5yd
