Catherine McGourty was the star of the show for Down as they shocked Wexford in a thrilling Irish Daily Star Camogie league Division 2 tie by 3-10 to 2-12.

McGourty contributed 1-6 of her side’s tally, with five points coming from frees and one from a 45. Sara Louise Carr added a goal and a point, and Karen Gribben also raised a green flag on their way to a famous one-point victory.

Depite ending on the losing side, Síona Nolan’s efforts were laudable as she scored 1-4, with only two of those points coming from placed balls, while Áine Codd notched up five points.

Cork’s second team was pushed all the way by Limerick before emerging successful on a 3-13 to 3-8 scoreline.

Marie Watson plundered two goals and Marian Jagoe added 1-3 from play while Marie O’Neill shot seven points, with the outstanding Niamh Mulcahy grabbing 1-4 for Limerick, and Mary O’Callaghan and Áine O’Reilly also finding the net.

Racquel McCarry struck 2-6 as Antrim maintained their 100% record with a 3-14 to 0-13 victory over a Derry outfit that was over-reliant on Karen Kielt for scores, the Oak Leaf sharpshooter scoring nine points.

Meanwhile, local rivals Kilkenny and Waterford shared the spoils after finishing up on 1-9 apiece.
