Tipperary reclaimed the All-Ireland Camogie title in Croke Park today when they defeated last year's champions Cork by 2-11 to 1-11. Tipperary gained revenge for last year's final defeat to Cork with Eimear McDonnell leading the way with a personal tally of 1-04.
Tipp have now won the title four times in the last five years while they have only lost two out of their last 20 championship matches dating back to 1998.
Pa Finn's Cork side, bidding for their county’s 21st title, held a single point lead (0-7 to 1-3) at the break. But veteran forward Deirdre Hughes, in her fourteenth season, got Tipp off to the ideal start after the break with a well taken goal.
Further scores from McDonnell, Noelle Kennedy (0-2) and Joanne Ryan saw Tipp stretch their lead. But Cork fought back well through Fiona O’Driscoll with three points and a stoppage-time goal from half-back Gemma O’Connor, but their revival ran out of time.
