Lisa O'Rourke, Patsy Joyce and Dean Clancy all advanced at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, but Michaela Walsh's tournament is over.

O'Rourke, whose sister Aoife powered into to the quarters on Saturday, advanced to the quarter-finals with a 5-0 victory over Colombian Shirleidis Oroszco, who incurred a point deduction and was given a third-round standing count.

The 23-year-old was a class apart, the judges' cards reading 30-26, 30-26, 30-26, 30-25, 30-26. She'll box for a medal in the 70kg division in Tuesday's evening session against top seed Lekeisha Pergoliti of Australia.

It was also a comfortable victory for Mullingar man Joyce against Jaeyong Shin of South Korea (29-26, 28-27, 28-27, 29-26, 29-26). He will next face Bulgaria’s Javier Ibanez.

The last-16 55kg bout was set up after Ibanez saw off the USA's Orlando Zamora-Garcia on points.

Clancy won his opening World Championships bout with a 5-0 win (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27) over Ihlasbek Kochkarov of Turkmenistan.

The Sligo man will contest his last-16 fight against Georgia's Lasha Guruli, the Paris Olympics bronze medallist and multiple medallist at World and European level, on Tuesday

There was no joy for Michaela Walsh, however. The 57kg double Olympian was beaten 4-1 in her last-16 contest against Shih-Yin Wu of Chinese Taipei, with the judges scoring it 27-30, 28-29, 28-29, 28-29, 29-28.
