Aoife O'Rourke powered into to the quarter-finals of the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool following a unanimous win over Monika Langerova of the Czech Republic.
The 75kg double Olympian prevailed on a day when other members of Team Ireland bowed out.
All five judges scored the bout in O'Rourke's favour (30:27, 30:25, 30:25, 30: 25, 30: 26, 30: 25) and she will face Norway's Sunniva Hofstad - a fellow Paris Olympian and the only boxer, male or female, this year to win gold at all World Boxing Cups - in Wednesday’s evening session.
Irish Olympian Daina Moorehouse - pictured below - suffered a split decision defeat to Laura Fuertes Fernandez of Spain.
In what was a tight and fiercely contested bout, Moorehouse was narrowly edged out on the judges' scorecards, with a 3-2 split decision going against her.
Fernandez, who has won medals at the World and European Games, was able to dig deep and find an extra level just when it mattered most as a strong final round saw her take the decision.
Judges scored the bout 28:29, 29:28, 29:28, 28:29, 29:28.
It was a similar story for Donegal southpaw Matthew McCole, who lost to Ronald Chavez Jnr of the Philippines on a split decision.
In what was McCole's first major senior tournament, a 3-2 split decision went against him.
Lightweight (60kg) Zara Breslin made her exit after her last-32 defeat to Turkey's Gizem Ozer.
Breslin was no match for the formidable Paris Olympian, who enjoyed a 5-0 decision.
