Michael Conlan is set to fight professionally in Dublin for the first time on 5 September when he takes on British fighter Jack Bateson at the 3Arena.

The Belfast boxer's last outing was in March when he beat Asad Asif Khan to return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats against Luis Alberto Lopez and Jordan Gill, the latter in September 2023 by a seventh round stoppage in his hometown's SSE Arena.

The Gill fight saw the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist's dream of a third world title shot scuppered and 33-year-old featherweight, Conlan, will hope the Bateson bout puts him back on the track toward another shot at an elusive world title.

Bateson hails from Leeds and is two years younger, with a pro record of 20-1-1. Conlan's own record since turning pro in 2016 has seen him earn 19 wins and three losses, the defeats all by knockout.
