A rematch between Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan has been ordered by the IBF, paving the way for a huge clash between the Irish boxers in the summer.
Donovan was on the cusp of victory before the DQ, giving a contentious ending to the fight in a sold-out SSE Arena in Belfast.
The Limerick fighter’s manager, Keith Sullivan, appealed the outcome of the bout, also citing the deduction of points for using the head, which he claimed should not have occurred.
Donovan said: "I am very proud of the support Keith and Andy [Lee, his trainer] provided to me during the process.
"I have a great team around me. I am pleased with the outcome of the appeal. I am eager to get back in the ring to showcase my boxing abilities once again and continue on the path to a world title."
The rematch must happen within 120 days, with the winner being granted mandatory status for the IBF welterweight title, just like the original clash.
It is not guaranteed that Crocker will accept the rematch and he may seek an alternative route to a world crown.
However, a second fight with Donovan would prove lucrative, with Eddie Hearn, who promotes both boxers, previously raising the possibility of it taking place at Windsor Park.
