Katie Taylor says her showdown with Amanda Serrano this weekend will showcase the two best fighters in the sport in their historic clash at Madison Square Garden.
Taylor will put her undisputed world lightweight title on the line against the Puerto Rican seven-weight world champion in New York, the first time two female fighters will headline a card at the famous arena.
The pair appeared on the Today Show on NBC earlier today ahead of the eagerly-awaited bout, where the mutual respect for each other was evident.
"We are obviously two great champions; like you said the best in the world facing each other," Taylor said. "We are going to do what we have to do to win the fight.
"We don't train to lose, we train to win fights. We are both great champions. One of the reasons why this fight is so special is because it is the best versus the best… in the world. It’s an amazing moment."

The 2012 Olympic gold medallist explained her boxing journey for the American audience and her hopes for victory on Saturday night, while Serrano was full of praise for her decorated opponent.
"To be in this iconic event sharing the ring with Katie Taylor, an amazing, undisputed, and undefeated champion, is truly an honour," she said.
"We are the first females to headline Madison Square Garden. It is almost sold out and they say that people don’t want to see women fight. This tells you something totally. different. It’s amazing."
