John Paul Hale became the fourth Irish boxer to exit the amateur World Championships in Belgrade at the first stage on Wednesday night.
The 20-year-old from Belfast was beaten 5-0 by Serbian southpaw Semiz Alicic in the last 64 of the lightweight (60kg) division.
Hale started well but Alicic came more into the contest as the bout progressed.
Ireland have sent an inexperienced squad of seven to the championships, after none of the male Olympians who were in action in Tokyo competed in last month's national elites, and Eugene McKeever, Sean Mari and Brandon McCarthy were also eliminated in their first bouts.
At around 4.15pm today, Adam Hession faces Eduard Savvin (Russia) in the last 32 of the featherweight (57kg) division. The Galway man was a silver medallist at the summer's European U22 championships.
Rickey Nesbitt (48kg) and Keylan Cassidy (80kg) are both in action on Saturday.
