Aaron McKenna sends Jordan Grannum to the canvas in the second round

Undefeated Irish super-welterweight prospect Aaron McKenna overcame a lengthy absence from the ring on Friday night to inflict a convincing defeat on Jordan Grannum in the English town of Redditch, while older brother Stephen maintained his perfect win and knockout record with a stoppage of MJ Hall.

The last time Aaron had stepped through the ropes was back in December 2019, when the Smithborough pugilist knocked out Victor Gaytan in California, but there were no signs of rustiness from the 21-year-old as he set a relentless tempo from the opening bell.

The durable Grannum hadn't been stopped in 79 fights, but after being dropped with a vicious left hook in the second round, he opted against coming out of his corner at the start of the third round.

Journeyman MJ Hall presented a far stiffer challenge for older Stephen in their lightweight contest, with the 23-year-old going beyond the second round for just the second time in his career.

Hall soaked up a barrage of huge blows from the outset, with the referee eventually stepping in and stopping the bout in the fifth round.
