Eric Donovan will return to the ring on 5 December for a fight in Brussels.
In August, the 35-year-old suffered an eighth-round knockout against Zelfa Barrett that ended his hopes of winning the IBF Super Featherweight Intercontinental title.
He'd gone into that fight with an undefeated 12-0 record and knew victory would potentially open up world title shot opportunities. It wasn't to be, but the Kildare fighter earned a lot of praise for his performance and the way he conducted himself before and after the clash.
Donovan, who belatedly turned pro four years ago after a sparkling amateur career, had been due to appear on the Conor Benn undercard at Wembley Arena last weekend but had to withdraw because he had the flu.
Instead, he'll head to Belgium to face an as yet unnamed opponent.
"I am buzzing," Donovan tweeted.
"On the 5th of December I will have my 14th professional fight in Brussels, Belgium. Thanks to my sponsors, my manager and team. It's time for more Lightning."
