Kurt Walker eased past Canadian Robin Basran to leave himself one victory from securing a medal at the World Elite Championships in Russia.

Having overcome Colombian southpaw David Avila on a on a split decision last Sunday to make the last 16, Walker progressed to the quarters with a convincing win.

The Antrim featherweight beat Basran in the semi-finals of last year's Commonwealth Games in Australia and had little difficulty in getting past the Canadian again on Tuesday afternoon, earning a unanimous decision win.

The 24-year-old European champion is back in the ring on Wednesday when he will face Mongolia's No 3 seed Tsendbaater Erdenebat to seal at least bronze. Erdenebat won gold at the 2018 Asian Games and is a Rio Olympian.
