Joe Ward will make his debut in the paid ranks on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin's middleweight world-title showdown with Sergiy Derevyanchenko's at Madison Square Garden.
Ward turned pro earlier this month, signing a professional deal with promoter Lou Di Bella, and immediately declared his intention to be in world title contention within two to three years.
The Moate man is training under the guidance of Buddy McGirt as a light heavyweight and is now largely based in New York.
A top-quality amateur who won three European Championship golds and and three World Championship medals, Ward is still only 25 and will now look to hit the ground running in New York on 5 October against an as yet unnamed opponent
"Brilliant news, I will be making my debut in MSG on the 5th of October on the undercard of GGG, " Ward posted on his Instagram page.
"These are the things you dream about."
