Gary 'Spike' O’Sullivan’s bout against Diego Adrian Marocchi in Boston has been cancelled after the Cork boxer’s US visa application was not processed in time.
In a statement issued by trainer Packie Collins, the trainer said that the application was "complicated" despite three successful entries previously.
Collins added: "The US consulate at the last minute has requested more information on Spike which means Spike might or might not be in Boston in time for his fight."
Collins said for precautionary reasons they would not be going ahead with the fight as a late arrival would not be suitable for preparation and health reasons.
It was also revealed that O’Sullivan has accepted an offer from Golden Boy Promotions and Murphy Boxing for a bout in October, with a possible world title shot if victorious.
The October date will be announced shortly.
