World Elite lightweight champion Kellie Harrington is on a collision course for gold with Katie Taylor's conqueror Mira Potkonen in the finals at the European Games.
Harrington is seeded No 1 in the Belarusian capital of Minsk. Potkonen, who beat current unified pro champion Taylor at the Games Rio 2016, is No 2.
The Finn, who also beat Harrington en route to gold in the last four of the 2018 European Elites, and the Dubliner are on opposite ends of the draw and can only meet for gold.
Harrington received a bye into the last eight - as did Potkonen - and will face either Italy’s Irma Testa or Moldova’s Christina Rygielska next Wednesday.
No Irish boxers are in action on the opening day of the tournament on Friday but Galway’s Kieran Molloy and Laois’ Michael Nevin fight on Saturday.
Antrim’s Kurt Walker and Michaela Walsh, both current European Union Elite champions, box on Monday.
Irish boxing is using an 11-strong squad in Minsk.
Taylor and Michael O'Reilly won double gold for Ireland at the first European Games in Baku back in 2015, while Brendan Irvine and Sean McComb took home silver and bronze respectively.
Irvine was included in the Irish squad for Minsk but had to withdraw after picking up a foot injury.
