Dennis Hogan is adamant he will shock the boxing world this weekend when he takes on the undefeated champion Jaime Mungaia in Monterrey.

Hogan will challenge WBO super welterweight title holder Mungaia, who has amassed 26 knockouts in 32 victories as a 22-year-old, needing just 116 rounds in total.

The story is somewhat different for the Kildare fighter (28-1-1).

He has spent over eight years battling for an outright shot at a world belt and will travel to Mexico today to prepare for the biggest night of his career.

The 34-year-old said: "It feels very good to get the last hard session going and it's just a matter of tapering it off. That feels good. You start to freshen up. I'm fresh enough as it is. I've come through training really well.

"I have the work done phenomenally. I'm looking forward to getting to Mexico and settling in. I want to enjoy fight week, the press conference and the weigh-in and get them out of the way. My weight is good. I'm ready to go, I'm ready to fight and I'm ready to win. It's going to be a good week."

Hogan had his training camp in Los Angeles and has overcome some niggling injuries to be in excellent condition for the bout which will be in front of 17,000 passionate supporters of Mungaia on Saturday night.

He feels that the lack of experience, particularly only going 12 rounds on two occasions, could count against his youthful opponent.

"Everything is after coming together," the now Brisbane resident said.

"Everything is feeling good. The whole body is good, the muscles are loose which is great. I'm feeling very strong. All those rounds he hasn't had because of the knockouts are rounds I got in and had experience.

"I found out what it was like to be in there and problem-solve in those situations. When he gets in those situations there'll be big questions asked and I'll be asking those questions of him.

"That's the way it's going to be.

"I'll win this for sure. Whatever way it is going to happen, I'll be winning."
