Kellie Harrington battled past Troy Garton to win her opening bout at the Women's World Amateur Championships in New Delhi, India

Harrington won on an unanimous decision over the New Zealand boxer in a bout that failed to ignite but saw the Irish woman largely comfortable throughout.

The Dublin lightweight was declared victorious on three scores of 30-26 and two of 30-27.

She's back in the ring on Sunday to face Indian veteran Sarita Devi in the last 16.

Four more Irish boxers are in action tomorrow. Ceire Smith, Michaela Walsh, Amy Broadhurst and Aoife O'Rourke carry the Irish hopes.

Grainne Walsh is already in the next round thanks to a bye.
