World Elite finalists Joe Ward and Kellie Harrington are included on a 12-strong Irish squad for the Nicolae Linca Golden Belt multi-nations in Romania.

The tournament begins in Galati City on 25 September and runs until 30 September.

Team Ireland is building toward November’s European Union Championships in Spain while the AIBA World Women’s Elite Championships take place in New Delhi the same month.

On the last occasion that the World Women Elites were hosted in New Delhi, Katie Taylor won gold in 2006.

Meanwhile, Galway's current national Elite champion Kieran Molloy is delighted to get the opportunity to test himself in Galati.

"Preparations have went brilliantly for the Golden Belt tournament in Romania. It’s a good tough multi-nations with a lot of country’s best teams competing," he said.
