Paddy Barnes suffered a knockout defeat in his bid to become the WBC flyweight champion of the world at Windsor Park in Belfast.
Fighting on the Carl Frampton versus Luke Jackson undercard, the three-time Olympian was stopped by the reigning champion Cristofer Rosales in the fourth round after the Nicaraguan unleashed a powerful body shot that sent Barnes crumpling to the canvas.
Barnes started brightly in the opening exchanges and was landing some good shots at times, but he was bleeding from his nose by the second round and appeared to be struggling.
In what was his just sixth fight in the professional ranks, Barnes finally succumbed in the fourth round. He connected with a hook, but Rosales responded with a ripping shot to the stomach.
The local fighter went down and wasn't able to get back to his feet before the ten count. He stayed on the canvas for several minutes after the fight as he recovered from the blow.
