Jason Quigley is moving closer to the biggest fight of his career as a Las Vegas bout against Ryota Murata for the WBA middleweight title looks more and more likely.
Japanese fighter Murata is already pencilled in for an October 20 defence of his title and talks with Quigley’s camp are believed to be in progress.
The Irish middleweight has climbed the rankings steadily over the last few years, despite a hand injury ruling him out of action for the best part of a year.
Quigley returned to the ring following that injury in March and claimed a KO victory over Daniel Rosario, which took his record to 14-0 (11 KOs) and put him firmly in the frame for a title shot.
Murata does have a mandatory fight against Rob Brant, but is understood to have sough an exemption to take the October fight at Mandalay Bay before facing Brant.
