Katie Taylor is straining at the leash to get back into the ring in London this Saturday night to defend her WBA and IBF world titles.

The Bray fighter faces mandatory challenger Kimberley Connor on the undercard of the Dillian Whyte-Joseph Parker contest at the O2, where she stopped Monica Gentili back in the March of 2017.

In April, Taylor became the unified lightweight champion of the world after victory over  Victoria Noelia Bustos in the Barclays Center in New York.

She's already pencilled in for a bout with fight Cindy Serrano in Chicago on 6 October, but Taylor is focused on overcoming 37-year-old American Connor first and foremost.

"I can't wait," she said on Thursday. "This again is a great opportunity for me and I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life, the best form of my life.

"I know that Kimberley comes in as a hungry challenger. She's going to bring her best and that's going to bring the best out of me as well. I can't wait for it."

Connor was complimentary of her opponent but is relishing her outsiders status as she looks to pull off a shock.

"She's accomplished a lot in women's boxing," said Connor.

"I have a lot of respect for her. I'm not much of a smack talker so you're not going to get any negatives out of me. I look forward to fighting her.

"I feel like this is the boxer's dream - I'm the absolute underdog in this situation."
