David Oliver Joyce has landed an IBF European super-featherweight title shot in Glasgow on 24 August against Scotland’s Ronnie Clark.
The 31-year-old made his pro debut 13 months ago in Belfast and has been fast-tracked to this opportunity.
Joyce, a 2016 Olympian, has had just seven professional fights, but will take on Clark who upset Zelfa Barrett to win the title in February.
Clark has four defeats on his record and was not expected to defeat Barrett, but claimed a majority decision to land the belt.
It gives Joyce a tremendous opportunity despite having just 23 rounds in the paid ranks.
Former European champion Stephen Ormond will also face Ghana’s George Ashie on the bill.
