Michael Conlan had to go the distance but maintained his unbeaten professional record against Brazilian Adeilson Dos Santos in Belfast.
The former world amateur champion was comfortable throughout in what was a step up in class against an opponent who had claimed 15 KO wins in his previous 19 bouts.
It was featherweight Conlan's first fight in Belfast since 2010 and the 26 year old received a rapturous welcome at the Odyssey Arena.
The result never looked in doubt and the referee scored the eight-round fight 79-73 in his favour, bringing the former Olympian's pro record to eight from eight.
Conlan said: "It was daunting, I feel okay now. He forced the pace, he was smart and awkward, I'm happy with the victory.
"[I'm] still not the finished article, I've still a lot to learn, I'd give it a six out of ten...that's part of learning."
