Ray Moylette is angling for an Irish title fight in his native Mayo after maintaining his perfect record as a professional with a seventh round stoppage of Nicaraguan Jorge Moreno in Ipswich on Saturday.
The Islandeady lightweight, who turned 28 last month, is now 10-0 since turning professional at the beginning of 2017.
Moylette won gold for Ireland at the European Amateurs in Ankara in 2011 and has made a smooth start to life as a professional. He is intent on fighting in Boston next month but he is eyeing up a potential bout in Mayo down the line.
Speaking on Game On on RTÉ 2fm, Moylette said he felt he was never going to lose Saturday's fight.
"I didn't think the 10-0 was such a milestone until I woke up on Sunday and thought about it.
"He's a journeyman but one with a positive winning record. He was there to help me grow and learn from him. I was never going to lose that fight really. I'm still building and we're developing my style.
"He was clever in the ring. He used the ring to his advantage. He was a lot bigger than me so he kept me at range. And everytime, I got in close, he grabbed me. So, he took my combinations away from me and I had to cut the ring off and find my way with single shots, which isn't ideal in professional boxing.
"It was like a game of chess trying to break him down. But I knew I would get to him. We went to round 7 and he took a count and didn't get up. He wasn't that badly hurt but he'd nothing left in the tank and he'd lost every round so he was as well to stay down."
It's likely to be America next for Moylette but he does have a vision for a fight in Castlebar before long.
"Earlier in the year, we pencilled in a date on the 23 June in New Hampshire. We're in the middle of negotiations this week. It's not fully finalised but it is pencilled in.
"I would love if we could build that (a fight in Mayo) together. I initially wanted to fight at home last year and it was in my contract to fight every year in Mayo with Assassin Promotions.
"They told me I could fight last year but it probably was a bit early to jump straight into it. I think we have a bit of momentum now and the following has increased massively over the last year. My profile has built obviously with my record.
"I'm eligible for an Irish title and we're hoping that an Irish title will be on the line when I do fight at home."
