Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle has died at the age of 77.

Ingle, from Dublin, trained four world champions from his gym in Sheffield and was hugely respected for his work in the field.

'Prince' Naseem Hamed was among the champions trained by Ingle, with their working relationship lasting nearly two decades.

The gym remains open to this day, run by sons Dominic and John, and includes Donegal boxer Jason Quigley.

He died peacefully at 7.40am at the Royal Hallamshire hospital.
