Paddy Barnes will take on Spain’s Juan Hinostroza on Friday night in Edinburgh in the fourth professional outing of his career.

The fight takes place on the undercard of Gary Cornish against Sam Sexton in a British Heavyweight title clash and is designed to give Barnes more experience after coming through 10 rounds for the first time against Silvio Olteanu.

Barnes is scheduled to fight on Carl Frampton’s homecoming card in Belfast on 18 November and it is expected he will be not face too much trouble from Hinostroza, who has five wins, seven defeats and one draw from his 13 career bouts.

Barnes has already claimed the WBO European title in just three career fights and it’s hoped a world title fight could follow next year if he comes through the rest of 2017 in impressive fashion.

Barnes told iFL TV last month: "It’s all gearing towards November so I don’t need any slip-ups or cuts or anything. I’ve been sparring away and I’m in decent shape.

"Scotland is a brilliant fight place. Last time I fought there was the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow so I’m looking forward to fighting in the capital. Scottish fans love their boxing."
