Paddy Barnes: 'I genuinely believe I will be world champion'

Paddy Barnes has set himself a target of just 10 fights to become a world champion.

The Belfast boxer, a double Olympic medallist, announced last month he was turning pro and will make his debut in Belfast next Saturday night.

Barnes, 29, who will fight at fly weight [50.8 kg], told RTÉ Sport: “You can talk to any professional in the world and they’re going to tell you they’re going to be world champion.

“I genuinely believe I will be world champion and I know I will be world champion.

“In my head, I think within 10 fights I’ll be fighting for a world title. I think I will be world champion within 10 fights.”
