Irish middleweight fighter Andy Lee wants a comeback fight with either WBA world champion Danny Jacobs or multi-titleholder world champion Gennady Golovkin, who overwhelmed Kell Brook in his WBC and IBF middleweight title bout on Saturday night.
Lee has had some down time after his WBO world title majority decision loss to Billy Joe Saunders last December, but is eyeing one of the big guns as he prepares to make a return to the ring.
Lee was set to meet Golovkin at Madison Square Garden Theater, New York in April 2014, but the fight was pulled due to the death of Gennady’s father.
"I have had a bit of a lay-off since my last fight, but I want to get back to boxing, and what better way to get back than in a championship fight," said Lee.
"I have no qualms about challenging Danny or Gennady or any other top fighter; I am in the business of fighting that is what I do for a living.
Lee ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to making a world middleweight title fight opponent. He is a genuine 160lb fighter and his height, southpaw stance, punching power, effective right hook and accurate straight left makes him a dangerous opponent for anyone.
He's back in the gym and looking forward to getting back to business, adding: "As a professional athlete I want to test myself and fight and beat the best, that has been my motivation during my career."
